# Introduction

The Flutterwave APIs provide robust payment solutions for your application. Our API is [REST-based](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Representational_State_Transfer) and uses standard GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE requests to communicate. It accepts `application/json` in the request body, returns JSON-encoded responses, and uses standard HTTP response codes. [Authentication](/authentication) is handled via your API key.
